Ongole, Oct. 19 -- Prakasam district YSRCP President and MLA Buchepalli Sivaprasad Reddy said the police system had failed to ensure even the basic democratic right of candidates to file nominations for local body polls and condemned the manner in which YSRCP candidates were prevented from filing nominations in Darsi.
Addressing the media at the YSRCP office in Ongole on Monday, he questioned the purpose of conducting elections when candidates were not even allowed to submit nominations. He alleged that the YSRCP candidates who went to file nominations in Darsi on October 17 were attacked and their papers were torn, while senior police officers failed to ensure access to the Returning Officer.
