Rayachoti, March 3 -- Police arrested a notorious inter-district motorcycle thief and seized 24 stolen bikes in Andhra Pradesh's Annamayya district.
Superintendent of Police Dhiraj K told the media on Tuesday that the accused, Sheik Arif, was taken into custody by a special police team. As many as 24 motorcycles worth over Rs 24 lakh were recovered from him.
Police also arrested three receivers allegedly involved in purchasing the stolen vehicles.
The SP said Arif had been stealing motorcycles since 2024. He would unlock parked bikes at night and flee with them.
He allegedly committed offences in Annamayya, Chittoor, Tirupati and Kadapa districts. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
