Vijayawada, Aug. 31 -- A goods train derailed at Kovvur railway station on the Kovvur-Rajahmundry line in Andhra Pradesh, resulting in several passenger trains getting held up at various stations.
Officials said that two rakes of a goods train, going towards Vijayawada, derailed near Kovvur railway station.
As a result, the railway officials detained some passenger trains at Nidadavolu and Rajahmundry stations, including the Tirupati-Kakinada (17249) express train.
The officials have taken steps to remove the derailed rakes from the track and repair the damaged railway track.
Senior railway officials rushed to the site and were monitoring the situation.
