Visakhapatnam, April 18 -- East Coast Railway has achieved a significant milestone in infrastructure development by completing breakthroughs in five tunnels during the 2025-26 financial year across the challenging terrain of the Eastern Ghats.

The latest breakthrough was achieved on April 14 with Tunnel No. 30 (1,043 metres) in the Sikarpai-Keutguda section of the Koraput-Singapur Road doubling project under the Waltair Division, the Railways said in a release here today.

Railway officials said the tunnel, constructed on a sharp five-degree curve, was excavated from both ends and achieved precise alignment, reflecting advanced engineering and surveying capabilities.
