Visakhapatnam, Aug. 10 -- The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Visakhapatnam Anti-Corruption Branch, on Monday arrested a Superintendent of Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST), Ibrahimpatnam, Vijayawada, for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from a complainant.
In a release, the CBI said it registered a case against the CGST official based on a complaint alleging that he had demanded Rs 1.50 lakh from the proprietor of M/s Tapaswi Rice Mill at Chandragudem in Mylavaram.
The bribe was allegedly demanded for not issuing a demand notice towards tax liability and for closing the matter, according to the CBI.
