New Delhi, July 17 -- Senior IPS officer Anurag Kumar has been appointed as the new Commissioner of Delhi Police, succeeding Satish Golcha as the head of the national capital's police force.
According to an order issued by the union Ministry of Home Affairs, Kumar, a 1994-batch IPS officer of the AGMUT cadre, will assume charge with immediate effect from the date he takes over the post and will continue until further orders.
Before his appointment, Kumar was serving as Special Director in the Intelligence Bureau. With more than three decades of experience in policing, intelligence, and strategic security, he is regarded as one of the senior-most officers of the AGMUT cadre.
