Tirumala, Aug. 23 -- The annual Pavitrotsavams commenced on a grand religious note at Tirumala today, with the traditional rituals performed as per the Vaikhanasa Agama.
As part of the three-day festival, Snapana Tirumanjanam was performed on the first day to the processional deities of Sri Malayappa Swamy along with Sridevi and Bhudevi at the Kalyanotsava Mandapam.
The Utsava deities were given sacred baths with aromatic ingredients amid the chanting of Vedic hymns by Veda Pundits. The priests also performed Pavitra Pratista as part of the day's rituals.
