Cannes, May 22 -- With a dominating presence in nearly every category, animation has turned out be a major highlight of the Cannes Film Festival this year.

Animated movies are part of the official selection of the 79th edition of the Cannes Film Festival, along with parallel selections such as the Critics' Week, Directors' Fortnight and ACID (Association for the Diffusion of Independent Cinema).

French film 'Jim Queen' directed by Nicolas Athane and Marco Nguyen, which is part of the Midnight Screenings category of the Cannes festival, leads a substantial number of animated movies at the event this year.
