Hamirpur, May 28 -- Hundreds of villagers boycotted the Panchayat elections in Kangri Village Ward No 1 in Hamirpur district of Himachal Pradesh due to the lack of development work for years and the failure to resolve dozens of pending issues.
Consequently, no voter has cast their vote at the polling station that opened at 7 am. The polling station, Primary School Kangri, remained deserted, and no agents or booths were set up within a hundred meters of the polling station.
Approximately 288 voters in Ward No. 1 of the Ri Panchayat had given an ultimatum to boycott the elections through the Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Gardhwa Rathore, even before the voting dates were announced.
