Nagpur, April 19 -- A 15-year-old girl from Nagpur has stepped forward to lodge a formal complaint in the sexual exploitation case reported from Maharashtra's Amravati district, Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule confirmed on Sunday.

Bawankule confirmed that the minor's statement is currently being recorded.

He described the development as significant, as police had earlier been appealing to potential survivors to come forward, but none had done so until now.

Police have so far arrested eight accused in connection with the case and seized several electronic devices, including seven mobile phones, a laptop, a hard disk and a tablet.

These devices have been sent for forensic analysis and the report is awaited, he said.
