Mumbai, Sept. 13 -- union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday called for wider use of the vast knowledge and cultural heritage preserved by the Asiatic Society of Mumbai, saying it could contribute to India's development and the welfare of humanity.

Speaking at the inauguration of the 'Ganesh Gyanarthi' exhibition at the Asiatic Society, Shah said knowledge should not be confined by ideological boundaries and must be allowed to develop freely and contribute to society.

He said the institution's rich collection of books, manuscripts, historical records and other sources of knowledge represented an important intellectual resource that could contribute to building a "Great India".
