Bhubaneswar, June 5 -- Amid growing concerns over alleged police excesses and custodial torture incidents reported from different parts of Odisha, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday called upon police personnel to adopt a citizen-friendly approach while dealing firmly with criminals.

"Be friendly to the public and tough on offenders. It is your duty and responsibility to enforce the law fairly and effectively," the Chief Minister said while inaugurating a state-of-the-art police station at Talabania in Puri and dedicating several newly constructed police infrastructure projects across the state.
