Rajahmundry, July 13 -- Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday said the government is spending Rs 1,200 crore to provide basic amenities for the pilgrims converging for the Godavari pushkarams, considered a mini-Kumbhamela beginning in the last week of July next year.
Participating in various programmes in East Godavari district, the Chief Minister said that the Pushkar ghats are being modernised at Rajamahendravaram city on the banks of river Godavari for the ensuing Godavari pushkarams.
"The Picchukalanka and Bobbarlanka areas will be developed as tourism centres. Endeavors are being made for the construction of a new railway line in Konaseema district. A cocoa city is coming up at Kovvuru," he announced.
