Panchkula, Aug. 28 -- Long-distance vehicles plying between Punjab, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh will soon be able to bypass Ambala's congested city roads, with around 90 per cent of the 40-km six-lane Ambala Ring Road project completed, Haryana Transport Minister Anil Vij said on Friday.
The project is expected to provide major relief to commuters and transporters by diverting through-traffic outside the city, reducing congestion, travel delays and fuel consumption.
Vij inspected the progress of the ring road project on Friday afternoon and said the government's priority was to complete the remaining work at the earliest and dedicate the corridor to the public.
