Bengaluru, Aug. 24 -- The Karnataka Food Safety and Drugs Administration Department has suspended the food licences of Amazon, Swiggy Instamart and BigBasket over the online sale and listing of toxic Dhatura fruits and seeds for human consumption.
The action followed an inquiry into the sale of Dhatura products on the three e-commerce platforms despite their poisonous nature and the potential risk to public health.
The department directed the platforms to immediately remove all listings and advertisements offering Dhatura fruits or seeds as food or for human consumption and barred them from displaying, selling or distributing the products for such purposes.
