Akola, Aug. 4 -- A police constable posted at the Balapur Police Station in Akola district has been arrested for allegedly deceiving a college student with a false promise of marriage and abetting her suicide.
According to police, the accused, identified as Pawan Wadgave, allegedly established a physical relationship with the student after assuring her that he would marry her.
However, he later refused to marry her, leaving the young woman distressed.
She subsequently attempted suicide and, after battling for life for several days, succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment.
Following the incident, the accused constable allegedly went absconding.
