Kolkata, Aug. 26 -- Nostalgia brimmed over, with old timers recalling the golden past as Akashvani Kolkata turned 100 on Wednesday.
To celebrate the monumental occasion, a series of events were organised through the day at the Akashvani Bhavan here, at the initiative of the Centre's News and Programme divisions..
Stalwarts of the News division highlighted the experiences and memories of various departments from the station's past. Former senior officials shared their insights on the early days of the radio station when the broadcast started from 1, Garstin Place on August 26, 1927.
They also proudly mentioned Akashvani Kolkata's rich archives including the recordings of Rabindranath Tagore's voice, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose's speeches, ...
