Lucknow, April 6 -- Ajay Rai, the Uttar Pradesh Congress president, has written a strongly-worded letter to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday, raising concerns over widespread crop damage and loss of life caused by recent extreme weather events across the state.
In his letter, Rai highlighted that over the past 10-15 days, unseasonal rainfall, hailstorms, strong winds, and lightning strikes have severely impacted eastern, western, central, and Bundelkhand regions of Uttar Pradesh.
He stated that standing rabi crops such as wheat, gram, lentils, and mustard have suffered extensive damage, with losses estimated between 10% and 70% in many areas, while some regions have reported complete crop destruction.
