Mumbai, Aug. 21 -- Tata Group-owned Air India officially announced here today that it has successfully operationalised the Government of India's new cargo transshipment policy through an ongoing Proof of Concept (PoC) on the Chennai-Delhi-Frankfurt air cargo corridor, which was launched on June 20, 2026.

According to the company statement, in two months, the reformed policy enabled Air India to double average cargo volumes on the Chennai-Delhi-Frankfurt corridor, from 2.2 metric tonnes (MT) per day to 4.5 MT per day.

The policy has also helped Air India to reduce the average cargo connection time at Delhi Airport from around 48 hours to around 8 hours, as well as improve Flown-as-Booked (FAB) performance from 76 per cent to 100 pc, while ...
