Srinagar, Aug. 3 -- The Awami Itihaad Party (AIP), headed by jailed MP Engineer Rashid, on Monday announced that it will observe August 5 as a "Youm-e-Siyah" (Black Day), marking the seventh anniversary of the Centre's August 5, 2019 constitutional changes that ended Jammu and Kashmir's special status and downgrading of erstwhile state into two union territories.

The party said Engineer Rashid would be attending Parliament in black attire and observe a day-long hunger strike as a peaceful expression of solidarity.

Chief Spokesperson of AIP Inam un Nabi said that the party has finalized programmes in both New Delhi and Srinagar to highlight what AIP describes as the "unconstitutional deprivation of the democratic and constitutional rights ...
