Hyderabad, July 28 -- Cybersecurity threats targeting AI-driven software development are becoming increasingly sophisticated, with attackers focusing on influencing software selection even before code reaches production, executives from Sonatype and Forrester said at a press conference organised by The Guru Forum in Hyderabad on Tuesday.

Abhishek Chauhan, Senior Director of Technology and India Country Head, Sonatype, said the company's latest research, based on analysis of over 9,747 verified malicious packages and binaries detected between January 2020 and May 2026, found a major shift from broad malware campaigns to highly targeted attacks.
