New Delhi, Sept. 11 -- union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has cautioned that artificial intelligence (AI) is a "double-edged sword", noting that while the technology can help identify fraud, it can also create new avenues for financial wrongdoing.

Speaking at the Global Fintech Fest 2026, Sitharaman said, "innovation must improve efficiency without introducing new forms of systemic risk."She highlighted growing concerns around artificial intelligence, large language models and cyber threats as financial technology continues to evolve rapidly.
