New Delhi, Aug. 13 -- Artificial intelligence (AI), remote sensing and geospatial mapping are being used alongside ground-level data and traditional knowledge to improve elephant conservation and tackle human-elephant conflict (HEC), union Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Kirti Vardhan Singh said on Thursday.
Addressing the national World Elephant Day celebrations in Visakhapatnam, Singh said technology could help identify and protect elephant habitats and corridors, while stressing that HEC required coordination between forest departments, railways, scientific institutions and local communities.
