New Delhi/Guwahati, March 9 -- Senior Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) leader and the regional party's finance secretary, Jayanta Khaund, today formally joined the Indian National Congress after resigning from the regional party.

It may be noted that Khaund left the AGP expressing resentment after the regional party gave the Ranganadi constituency to BJP as part of electoral alliance. Khaund is a claimant for the Ranganadi constituency ticket in the forthcoming Assembly elections.
