Bengaluru, Aug. 3 -- The Congress High Command on Monday formally approved the induction of 20 ministers into the Karnataka Cabinet, ending nearly two months of political suspense, hectic lobbying and prolonged negotiations over the expansion of Chief Minister DK Shivakumar's ministry.

In a communication to Shivakumar, AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal informed him that Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge had approved the proposal for the Cabinet expansion. The approval also cleared appointments to key constitutional posts in the Karnataka Legislature, including the Speaker, Deputy Speaker, Chairman and Deputy Chairman.
