She was a junior world champion at 15. By 18, she had won back-to-back Youth World titles. The Bhiwani boxer seemed to be moving steadily towards the senior stage, where bigger medals awaited. Then everything stalled.

A recurring shoulder injury interrupted the most important phase of her career. While others from her generation moved on to the Commonwealth Games, Asian Games and the Olympics, Sakshi remained on the sidelines, watching one opportunity after another slip away.

By the time the qualification process for the 2026 Commonwealth Games arrived, another obstacle stood in her path.
