Mumbai, April 20 -- Mumbai Police has decided to constitute special teams to closely monitor live shows across the city, with a focus on preventing drug supply and other unlawful activities during such events.
The move comes as part of a broader effort to strengthen on-ground surveillance at crowded venues, days after the tragedy at a music concert when two students died of suspected drug overdose.
Additional Commissioner of Police Paramjit Singh Dahiya on Monday informed the media that all police units have been instructed to deploy dedicated squads at locations where large gatherings are expected. The objective is to curb incidents such as drug use, molestation and theft during live performances and public events.
