Tehran, June 23 -- Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian is scheduled to arrive in Islamabad on Tuesday to strengthen strategic ties and discuss cooperation in trade, and other areas, marking another step toward closer relations between the two countries.

Habibollah Abbasi, head of public relations at the Iranian President's Office, confirmed that thanking Pakistan's leadership for its role in facilitating the dialogue would be a central purpose of the visit.

Expressing appreciation to Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for "his mediation between Iran and the United States" is among the objectives of the visit, Habibollah Abbasi, director of public relations at the president's office, says, according to the IRNA state news agency.
