Chennai, Aug. 28 -- The Madras High Court on Friday dismissed as withdrawn, a plea seeking to quash the assault case against him, after Tamil Nadu Finance Minister N.Marie Wilson said he would appear before the Puducherry Court after Augut 31 in connection with the case after the HC pulled him up for seeking repeated exemptions and said "he was not the King of England" and that only a Finance Minister.

Accepting the submissions made by the Minister's counsel, Mr Justice V Lakshminarayanan dismissed the plea filed by him, as withdrawn after rejecting his claims of immunity due to legislative duties.

The Minister's plea pertained to quashing the case dating back to August 2022 which was registered by the Lawspet Police in Puducherry.
