Kolkata, June 5 -- The resignation of Firhad Hakim as Mayor of Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) on Friday triggered a fresh round of political speculation in West Bengal, with questions emerging over his future political course amid the continuing churn within the Trinamool Congress.
Soon after Hakim formally stepped down from the Mayor's post, Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly and expelled TMC leader Ritabrata Banerjee indicated that he would get in touch with the veteran politician, further fuelling speculation about possible realignments in the state's political landscape.
