Chennai, June 1 -- After a distnguished service of 27 years making pivotal contributions to the nation's maritime security, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) has bid adieu, decomissioning its Ship Sarang--the third of the Advanced Offshore Patrol Vessel of the Samar Class--with full Coast Guard honours at a traditional military parade held at Chennai Port here on Sunday evening.
A defence release today said as the sun set over the horizon on May 31, 2026, in a traditional military ceremony held at Chennai Port, Indian Coast Guard Ship Sarang was decommissioned with full Coast Guard honours.
