Chennai, June 4 -- The Madras High Court has declared former Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker M Appavu as the winner from Radhapuramseat in the 2016 Assembly elections, while setting aside the victory of AIADMK's I S Inbadurai as null and void.
Allowing an election petition filed by Appavu, challenging the 2016 poll result from Radhapuram constituency in Tirunelveli district, Mr Justice G.Jayachandran, after a recount of the votes, ordered that Inbadurai's victory by a narrow margin of 49 votes, was null and void and that Appavau be declared to have won by a margin of 109 votes.
The Judge also directed the Tamil Nadu Assembly Secretary to officially record Appavu as the MLA of the Radhapuram constituency for the period between 2016 and 2021.
