Aizawl, April 3 -- A fresh wave of African Swine Fever (ASF) has claimed at least 151 pigs in Mizoram so far this year, with the outbreak currently restricted to select pockets in Serchhip town and Durtlang area on the northern fringe of Aizawl, officials from the state Animal Husbandry & Veterinary department said on Friday.
According to the department, the resurgence has so far impacted 40 families across three localities in Serchhip and two localities in Aizawl.
As part of containment measures, 39 pigs have been culled to check further spread of the highly contagious disease.
Officials said no fresh pig deaths were reported on Friday.
