Bhubaneswar, July 22 -- The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Wednesday alleged that lakhs of farmers across Odisha have been pushed into severe distress due to an acute shortage of fertilisers during the ongoing Kharif season, blaming the crisis on administrative failure, poor planning and rampant black marketing.

Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters here, BJD Vice-President, MLA and former Minister Arun Kumar Sahoo, along with former Ministers Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak and Sanjay Das Burma, accused the BJP government of failing to ensure the timely supply of fertilisers during the crucial paddy transplantation period.
