Kolkata, May 27 -- Renowned Bengali filmmaker Anik Dutta passed away on Wednesday afternoon after he accidentally fell from the rooftop of his residence in the Hindustan Park area of south Kolkata.
He was 66.
According to sources, Dutta was immediately rushed to a private hospital in the Dhakuria area following the incident.
Hospital authorities later confirmed the director's death. His body is to be taken to SSKM Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Police officials have reached the filmmaker's residence.
However, no official statement has yet been issued regarding the circumstances surrounding the incident.
An investigation has been initiated, and forensic experts are expected to visit the spot.
