Nagpur, June 30 -- : The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has detained the Head of the Surgery Department at Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (Mayo Hospital) and his stenographer for allegedly demanding a bribe to issue a Medical Board recommendation and fitness certificate, officials said.

The accused have been identified as Dr. Nandkishore Kamalnarayan Jaiswal, Head of the Surgery Department and Chairman of the Medical Board and stenographer Ashish Metekar.

According to the ACB, the complainant, an Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspector posted at the Regional Transport Office (RTO) in Wardha, had been on medical leave for three months and required a Medical Board recommendation and fitness certificate to resume duty.
