Kolkata, June 14 -- A day before rebel Trinamool Congress (TMC) MPs are scheduled to meet Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and seek recognition for a separate bloc in Parliament, TMC national general secretary and the party's leader in the Lok Sabha, Abhishek Banerjee, has written a three-page letter urging the Speaker not to recognize any splinter group within the party.
In the letter, Banerjee asserted that the Trinamool Congress remains a single, unified political party both politically and legally.
He argued that the party's parliamentary wing in the Lok Sabha is an inseparable part of the parent organisation and that no group of MPs can claim separate recognition while remaining within the same political party.
