Kolkata, Sept. 28 -- Trinamool Congress national general secretary and Diamond Harbour MP Abhishek Banerjee Monday moved the Calcutta High Court seeking restoration of his security cover, alleging that he has faced several attacks since his security was withdrawn following the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections.
Abhishek's lawyer, Ayan Bhattacharya, mentioned the matter before Justice Krishna Rao and sought an urgent hearing, citing concerns over his client's security.
The court, however, did not entertain the plea for an immediate hearing but allowed Abhishek to file the petition.
The court said the matter would be heard on October 6.
According to Bhattacharya, Abhishek was provided Z-plus security before the Assembly elections.
