Neeraj BaliChandigarh, Oct. 12 -- Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislators on Monday approached the Akal Takht, Sikhism's highest temporal seat, seeking action against Delhi Police and union Home Ministry officials over alleged violations of religious protocol during police action at the historic Gurdwara Bangla Sahib in New Delhi.

A delegation led by MLAs Dr Inderbir Singh Nijjar and Manjinder Singh Giaspura submitted a memorandum addressed to the Akal Takht Jathedar to his personal assistant, Bagicha Singh, in the Jathedar's absence.

The legislators alleged that Delhi Police personnel entered the gurdwara premises wearing shoes and without covering their heads, violating Sikh religious traditions and hurting the sentiments of the community.
