Chandigarh, May 30 -- The ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) registered a strong performance across several key political bastions in Punjab's ongoing municipal elections, delivering significant victories in constituencies represented by senior leaders, while handing setbacks to some opposition heavyweights.

In Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann's assembly constituency of Dhuri, AAP swept the Dhuri Municipal Council elections, securing 19 of the 21 wards. The remaining two seats were won by independent candidates, while the Congress, BJP, and Shiromani Akali Dal failed to open their accounts.

AAP Punjab president and Cabinet minister Aman Arora also saw his influence reflected in the results from his home district.
