Siliguri, May 6 -- Joyjit Choudhury, Additional Advocate General (AAG) for the West Bengal government at the Calcutta High Court's Circuit Bench in Jalpaiguri, tendered his resignation on Wednesday with immediate effect.

Choudhury submitted his resignation via email to the Governor of West Bengal, stating that he had discharged his responsibilities "with sincerity" and in adherence to established ethical standards. His decision comes in the interregnum between the declaration of election results and the formation of a new state government.

"I have discharged my duties as AAG to the state government very sincerely and by maintaining ethical frameworks," Choudhury said.
