Kolkata, April 15 -- It was a "fishy" Poila Baisakh in West Bengal's election trail on Wednesday, as the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the principal opposition BJP chose the state's favourite non vegetarian delight over anything else as the star campaigner.
Poila Baisakh denotes the Bengali new year.
In Garia, on the southern fringes of the city, the Trinamool Congress candidate from Tollygunge Constituency Aroop Biswas held a campaign rally that had women carrying g large trays of rice fish at the head of the rally.
The rallyists carried posters that read "Maach-Bhaat-e-Bangali" (Bengalis live for fish and rice).
