Snehal SenguptaKolkata, April 30 -- The Election Commission has reduced the number of vote counting centres in West Bengal to 77, down from 87 that had been announced earlier this month.
West Bengal held a two-phase election spanning 294 Assembly Constituencies.
In the 2021 elections, votes were counted at 108 counting centres across the state.
The first phase of the West Bengal polls concluded on April 23 while the second got over on April 29.
The counting of votes is scheduled for May 4.
The decision to reduce the number of counting centres to 77 was confirmed on Thursday by the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO).
