Lucknow, March 30 -- Ashish Goel, Chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL), stated that 70 lakh prepaid smart meters are currently operational across the state. He added that the smart metering system has now been fully implemented.
He said that the main objective is to provide consumers with accurate and error-free billing.
Speaking at a press conference held here on Monday, Ashish Goel noted that the system involves negligible human intervention, thereby eliminating the possibility of billing irregularities. He further mentioned that for post-paid meters currently being converted into smart meters, the security deposit amount is being transferred to the prepaid balance.
