Shillong, Sept. 22 -- A total of 659 electors across Meghalaya have been found 'ineligible' for inclusion in the final electoral roll after the prescribed process, while 17,97,168 electors from the draft electoral roll are reported as 'eligible' so far for final publication, an election official said on Tuesday.
Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Dr. Brahma Deo Ram Tiwari reiterated that receipt of a notice did not automatically result in deletion of a name from the electoral roll and that due process must be followed in every case.
He urged all electors, particularly those who have received notices, to remain attentive to the ongoing hearing process and to take the necessary action within the prescribed timeline.
