New Delhi, June 27 -- A moderate earthquake of magnitude 5.8 struck the Hindu Kush region in northeastern Afghanistan on Saturday, according to the GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences.
The quake's epicenter was located at a depth of 191.9 km, initially determined at 36.47deg north latitude and 70.83deg east longitude, the report said.
The Hindu Kush is an 800-kilometre-long mountain range stretching across central Afghanistan into northern Pakistan and Tajikistan.
