Pune, April 5 -- Along with infrastructure development, the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) is giving equal priority to environmental conservation in the 'Maan-Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar Metro Line-3' project, which is set to become the backbone of public transport in Pune city and the metropolitan region.
"We have used technology to maintain a balance between infrastructure development and environmental conservation in the metro project," said Abhijit Chaudhari, Metropolitan Commissioner, PMRDA, in a release.
Under this project, as compensation for affected trees, as many as 5,500 new trees have been planted, and it is encouraging to note that the survival rate of these newly planted trees is 100 percent, he said.
