Thiruvananthapuram, Oct. 7 -- As many as 5,416 Janakeeya Arogya Kendrams are currently functioning across Kerala, at the rate of one centre for every 5,000 population, Health and Devaswom Minister K Muraleedharan said on Wednesday.

The government is taking steps to ensure that all Janakeeya Arogya Kendrams have their own buildings, while measures are also under way to strengthen the public healthcare system, he said.

The Minister was speaking after inaugurating the construction of 16 Janakeeya Arogya Kendrams and one Urban Health Centre in the district at the Peringammala Family Health Centre as part of the state government's 100-day action programme.
