Imphal, July 21 -- Forty-six cadres, including four women, of the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party-People's War Group (KCP-PWG) laid down arms to Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh during a Homecoming Ceremony held at Mantripukhri Garrison, HQ IG Assam Rifles (South) here today.
Yumnam Khemchand Singh said that Manipur was moving ahead and experiencing a peaceful era prior to the May 3, 2023 incident.
All irrespective of caste or creed were living a grander and peaceful life. The crisis led to increase in procurement of arms by the civilian population.
Khemchand said that the Central and State security personnel worked in sync to recover arms and ammunition which resulted in the recovery of more than 8,000 weapons.
