Nagpur, May 29 -- A surge in murder cases in Nagpur during the first five months of 2026 has sparked concerns over a possible rise in everyday violence, with police data showing 37 killings reported between January and May this year.
According to official figures, the city recorded nine murders in January, two in February, four in March, nine in April and 12 in May, reflecting a sharp rise as temperatures increased with the extreme heat apparently becoming a major factor in heightening tensions and making people aggressive.
